Most of the time, I will pick up on issues and will bring them to your attention. If this does not happen, please speak with me so that we can work together on a plan to support your child.

This can sometimes mean reducing the amount of homework they complete. In addition, there are supporting videos that I make available to my students that I would encourage them to watch. In Y5, Headway Homework Club will support your child to embed concepts they struggle with.

In Y4 and Y5, the length of time that your child can be expected to be spending on their homework weekly can vary between 2 - 3 hours. There is a vast amount of content to cover on the 11+ courses and you may feel that stepping in to support would be the right thing for your child. I am happy for you to help out at the start of the academic year to enable your child to settle into the process. From February half term, I would suggest that most homework should be completed unaided and then from Easter, your child should be working completely independently.

In Y3, the course is structured differently and the focus is on introducing students to the 11+. This means that homework is limited to around 30 - 60 mins per week.

Tuition works best when you, me and your child are communicating together regularly. You will be given regular feedback in terms of the academic progress your child makes in their homework. In turn, I need support from parents by way of checking to make sure that homework packs are being completed and that any books used are being marked.

The time you will need to invest in supporting your child regularly is around 20 minutes per week. The difference your involvement can make to your child's engagement and progress is huge.

If your child can not attend their in-person lesson, they can jump onto the equivalent online lesson that takes place later in the week.

If they are too ill to attend that lesson, a recording of the classwork will be supplied if there is time to do so.
